All About Texas
Prior to the Spanish arriving, Texas was occupied by many different tribes of Indians. First established in 1519 by Spain and then again in 1682 by the Europeans, Texas was just a few missions, presidios and villages. Lets jump ahead 100+ years to 1821 when the Mexican War of Independence ended, Texas was now part of Mexico. In October of 1835 the settlers in Texas revolted, causing what we call the Texas Revolution. Texas governed itself until 1845 when it became the 28th state annexed into the United States.
