History Recap for Cedar Park

Cedar Park did not start out being named as such, originally named Running Brushy after a local spring and then Bruggerhoff.  Bruggerhoff only lasted about 5 years, it came about after the railroad came through.  It was the name of a railroad official and the locals didn’t care for the way the name was pronounced or spelled.  In 1887, Emmett Cluck declared the town name to be Cedar Park and it stuck!

Cedar Park Center is ready to go and the Texas Stars, an American Hockey League, is scheduled to begin playing by the end of 2009. I’ve lived in Texas all my life and think it’s great we are going to have an ICE hockey team – that has got to be the cool place to be!  I can’t wait to go.
