Since Shady Oaks is out of the city limits, the younger household members can attend the Jarrell Independent School District, located just a few miles north on I35. Jarrell ISD is rated by the TEA as overall academically acceptable. Some people are drawn to Jarrell ISD because there are only 3 schools in the public ISD: Jarrell Elementary rated academically acceptable, Jarrell Middle rated recognized and Jarrell High rated exemplary. Located north of Georgetown out off 195, Shady Oaks is convenient to Austin and the Killeen/Waco area as well. The 130 Toll intersects with I35 just shy of 195… so if you work down south you can just jump on the 130 Toll Road and boogie into Austin. For commuters going to Killeen, 195 is straight shot down a crooked country road, if you know what I mean.
Numerous builders have built and will build in Shady Oaks; currently (summer 2010) Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes has a model for your touring delight.
